Just moments ago, the No. 9-ranked Golden Tornadoes secured a 60–45 win over Miami Central in the Roundball Classic held at Lee County High School.
As the boys celebrated their victory in Leesburg, the No. 3-ranked Lady Nadas defeated Jenkins 60–43 in Savannah, maintaining their perfect record of 10–0. This double success highlights the booming momentum of Monroe basketball, capturing the attention of fans and sports analysts alike.
The boys’ game showcased Monroe’s dominance from the start. After a brief tie at 4–4, Brayden Burns electrified the crowd with an alley-oop dunk, a pivotal moment that shifted the game’s momentum. The Golden Tornadoes quickly built a lead, finishing the first quarter at 11–4 and extending their advantage to 27–16 by halftime.
Head coach Michael Hoffpauir expressed confidence in his team’s depth, utilizing his bench strategically. “I felt sure we could close things in the end,” Hoffpauir stated. “This was a game where I could get more playing time for some of the other subs so I can trust their skills when they are on the court.” His approach paid off, as Monroe’s defense held strong against Miami Central’s second-half push.
