Miami Marlins Activate Connor Norby After Wrist Surgery

BREAKING: The Miami Marlins have officially activated third baseman Connor Norby after a lengthy recovery from a broken hamate bone in his left wrist. The announcement came today, just after Norby completed a successful rehabilitation stint and is set to play against the New York Mets.

Norby last took the field on July 11, 2023, in Baltimore, but began experiencing wrist pain that was initially diagnosed as inflammation. Following this, he underwent surgery performed by renowned hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan in Phoenix on July 16. After a month-long absence, he is back in the lineup batting sixth, a much-anticipated return for the Marlins.

“Very excited to get Connor back,” said Marlins manager Clayton McCullough. “He worked extremely hard along with our training staff to get back from this as quickly as he could.”

This return is crucial for the Marlins as they push toward the postseason. Norby had a solid season before his injury, boasting a batting average of .241, with 6 home runs and 26 RBIs in just 72 games. His performance is key to bolstering the Marlins’ offensive lineup as they face stiff competition in the league.

Before joining the Marlins, Norby was traded from Baltimore at the 2024 trade deadline. In his time with the Orioles and Marlins, he recorded a combined .236 batting average with 9 home runs and 20 RBIs in 45 games.

To accommodate Norby’s return, infielder Maximo Acosta has been optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville. Acosta struggled, hitting just .167 (4-for-24) in his nine games with the Marlins.

The Marlins’ fans and team are eager to see Norby back in action, hoping he can contribute significantly as they head into the final stretch of the season. Stay tuned for more updates on his performance and the Marlins’ journey ahead.
