Louvre Museum Closes After Jewelry Heist in Just 7 Minutes

BREAKING: Paris’ iconic Louvre Museum has been closed following a brazen jewelry heist that occurred this morning. Thieves broke into the renowned Galerie d’Apollon and made off with several pieces of “priceless” jewelry in a shocking incident that lasted only seven minutes.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed the robbery took place around 10:00 AM local time on October 15, 2023. Using a truck equipped with a lift and an angle grinder, the suspects gained access through a window before targeting multiple display cases. They made their swift escape on motor scooters, evading capture.

Minister Nuñez declined to specify the exact items stolen, citing an ongoing criminal investigation, but emphasized the cultural heritage value of the items taken. “The jewelry is of real heritage value and is actually priceless,” he stated during an interview with France Inter radio.

In response to the heist, Rachida Dati, France’s culture minister, ensured the public that no injuries were reported. She has been present at the scene, coordinating with museum teams and local police.

The rapid nature of the theft has raised alarms about security at one of the world’s most visited museums. The Louvre, known for housing masterpieces such as the Mona Lisa, is now prioritizing the safety of its collections while authorities conduct their investigation.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more updates as details emerge.
