URGENT UPDATE: Albany social media influencer Gabriel Ornelas is set to host a vital community event this Saturday, November 4, 2023. Dubbed Gabe’s Giving, the giveaway will provide free turkeys, coats, and essential supplies to families in need, starting at noon at the Wellness Infusion parking lot located at 2622 Dawson Road.
Ornelas, known as “Gabe Lincoln Fr” on social media, has amassed over 500,000 followers across TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. He is partnering with 4 Kids SWGA, a nonprofit committed to supporting underprivileged youths, to ensure families facing financial struggles can enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal.
“It’s going to be an event where families can come and just feel loved and not have to worry,” Ornelas said. “The turkey is the main thing at Thanksgiving dinner, and I want to make sure everybody at least has that main dish.”
Last year, during the first Gabe’s Giving, Ornelas distributed 350 turkeys to families in the Atlanta area. This Saturday, he aims to replicate that success in Albany, where he grew up. “It’s only fair and only right that I do it in my community,” he added, emphasizing the significance of giving back to those who have supported him.
The event will not only feature turkeys but also ice cream and new or gently used children’s coats. Ornelas is committed to ensuring that each family receives at least one turkey, stating that individuals must be present to claim their turkey.
This initiative is part of Ornelas’s broader mission to uplift his community. Since launching his social media career, he has engaged in various charitable activities, including grocery deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic and hosting numerous holiday drives. “I don’t want anybody to ever experience what I felt,” he explained, reflecting on his own upbringing as a child of a single mother facing financial challenges.
Earlier this year, Ornelas was featured on the MTV show “Caught in the Act,” showcasing his rapid rise as a content creator. He hopes to expand Gabe’s Giving in the coming years to include complete Thanksgiving meals for families.
