The Victoria East Lady Titans soccer team achieved a win and a tie during their opening matches at the Gulf Coast Classic Tournament on March 14, 2024, in Corpus Christi. This tournament marks the start of a three-day non-district competition featuring multiple teams from the region.
In their first match, the Lady Titans faced off against the Bay City Ladycats, resulting in a scoreless draw, 0-0. Goalkeeper Lydia Traxler showcased her skills with an impressive seven saves, maintaining a clean sheet for the team. The Lady Titans struggled offensively, managing only one shot on goal, which came from junior Carlee Kerley.
The second match proved more successful for the Lady Titans, as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Cypress Park. The decisive moment came when McKenna Chaput scored with a header, capitalizing on a corner kick delivered by Bay Hysquierdo. Chaput’s goal marked her as a key player, as she accounted for both of the team’s shots on goal in the match. Traxler continued her strong performance, recording another seven saves to help solidify the win.
