UPDATE: Harmony Food Co-op has successfully raised a total of $2,200 for local organizations MMIW 218 and Hope House during its annual Buy Local – Give Local event, held on November 28 in Bemidji. This significant fundraising effort underscores the community’s commitment to supporting vital services in the region.
In a heartfelt statement from the co-op, officials announced that due to the community’s participation, each organization received $1,100. “Because of YOUR support, we were able to donate to each organization—helping them continue the incredible work they do right here in Bemidji,” the release stated.
MMIW 218, founded by Indigenous women from the Bemichigaamag area, advocates for families impacted by the epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives. Their mission focuses on providing necessary education, support, and advocacy to communities dealing with these pressing issues.
Hope House plays an equally critical role, offering vital support to those living with serious mental illness.
