UPDATE: A thrilling atmosphere erupted last night as Team USA defeated Mexico 5-3 in the World Baseball Classic, witnessed by a sellout crowd of 41,628 fans at Minute Maid Park. Among the enthusiastic spectators were members of the Air Force baseball team, thanks to former cadets and current Major League pitchers Paul Skenes and Griffin Jax.
The Air Force Falcons, fresh from a series against Baylor in Texas, were granted this remarkable opportunity, a testament to the dedication of Skenes and Jax. They coordinated ticket arrangements for their former team, ensuring the Falcons could join in the excitement of this prestigious matchup. Jax recounted, “Air Force coach Mike Kazlausky reached out to both of us, and then I got together with Paul in Arizona. We discussed how to make this happen.”
The support from Skenes and Jax is a powerful reminder of their roots and commitment to their alma mater. Jax expressed his ongoing connection to Kazlausky, stating, “I still talk to him every week. He’s such a big part of my life. Any chance I have to help him and get the team around this opportunity, I want him to be a part of it.”
