Florida Woman Arrested for Unlicensed Dental Work, Victims Hurt

BREAKING: A Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly performing unlicensed dental work that left multiple victims with serious complications, including infections. Emely Martinez, 35, was taken into custody in Hillsborough County after investigators linked her to fraudulent practices across several counties. She is accused of using cyanoacrylate glue, commonly known as “superglue,” to install fake veneers, putting her patients at severe risk.

Authorities reported that Martinez operated out of the Tapp Inn Beauty Bar in Pinellas Park, where she offered discounted full-mouth veneer treatments, charging approximately $3,000 for a complete set. Real veneers can cost over $1,000 per tooth, raising questions about her business ethics and qualifications. According to police, victims have faced exorbitant costs for emergency dental treatments to address the damage caused by her procedures.

Police Sgt. Windy Vater stated, “They actually have had to pay thousands of dollars to get their teeth fixed, and some of them had to wait for the infection to clear before getting their teeth repaired.” The situation has sparked outrage as victims continue to suffer from the consequences of unlicensed dental work.

Two victims came forward after experiencing severe pain and complications, prompting the police investigation. While Martinez is charged with fraud and practicing dentistry without a license, authorities suspect she may have also performed dental work on children, further endangering vulnerable populations.

In a disturbing twist, records reveal that Martinez may have altered her name and created multiple business entities to conceal her fraudulent activities. The American Dental Association has warned that procedures performed by unlicensed technicians can lead to “irreversible harm,” underscoring the serious implications of this case.

As of now, it remains unclear how many individuals have been affected by Martinez’s unlicensed operations. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone who may have received treatment from her to come forward.

The urgency of this situation cannot be overstated. Many victims face not only financial burdens but also significant health risks due to the inadequate care received. With a rising number of individuals seeking dental work outside traditional practices, this case highlights the critical importance of ensuring that dental procedures are conducted by licensed professionals.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, seeking to prevent further harm. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge regarding the full extent of Martinez’s actions and the number of victims impacted.

For those in Florida and beyond, this incident serves as a stark reminder to verify the credentials of any medical or dental professional before undergoing treatment. The consequences of unlicensed practices can be dire, affecting both health and finances.
