Five Officers Shot in York County, Governor Responds Urgently

BREAKING: Five police officers have been shot in York County, Pennsylvania, just after 2 p.m. today. Law enforcement sources confirm the gunman has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In an urgent response, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is en route to the scene, advising locals to heed directions from authorities.

The incident occurred near the 1800 block of Haar Road in North Codorus Township, not far from the Maryland state line. As the situation unfolds, WellSpan Hospital in York is on lockdown, treating two individuals in serious condition related to the shooting, according to CBS 21 in Harrisburg. Hospital officials have implemented “enhanced security protocols” to ensure safety.

In a heartfelt message on social media, Lt. Governor Austin Davis urged the public to “please send prayers to the officers and those involved” as the community grapples with this shocking event. Additionally, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday is also heading to the area to assess the situation.

Local schools, including those in the Spring Grove Area School District, initiated shelter-in-place protocols out of an abundance of caution. The district has since received the all-clear from law enforcement, confirming that no students or school properties were involved in the incident.

This developing story is unfolding on a rural road winding through agricultural land, raising concerns about the safety of officers and the community at large. The York County Coroner has confirmed they were called to the scene, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.

As tensions rise, the community is encouraged to stay vigilant and follow guidance from law enforcement officials. For those affected by this traumatic event, emotional support resources are available. If you or someone you know is in crisis, reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 988 or contact the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) HelpLine at 1-800-950-NAMI (6264).

Stay tuned for more updates as this urgent situation develops.
