Ed Sheehan, the chief executive of Concurrent Technologies Corp. (CTC), has announced his plan to retire on June 30, 2024, after nearly two decades at the helm. CTC’s board of directors has commenced the search for Sheehan’s successor, marking a significant leadership transition for the nonprofit science and research organization.
Sheehan has dedicated a total of 33 years to CTC, guiding the firm through various phases of growth and innovation. His retirement follows the completion of a new 10-year strategic plan aimed at shaping the future of CTC and its technology transition affiliate, Enterprise Ventures Corp., which was established in 2000.
In a statement, Sheehan expressed confidence that now is the right moment for a leadership change. “I believe this is a good time to transition the top leadership of the organization to lead the next phase of organizational growth,” he stated. He also indicated his intention to support a smooth transition for his successor, adding, “While I am retiring, I anticipate maintaining a relationship with CTC as we move into the future.”
CTC’s Focus and Financial Performance
CTC, based in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, specializes in applied scientific research and development across four core areas: digital mission solutions, engineering and advanced manufacturing, readiness solutions, and energy, resilience, and sustainability.
In terms of financial performance, CTC has generated approximately $36.4 million in unclassified prime contract revenue over the past year. Notably, work with the Navy constitutes the majority of this revenue, accounting for 51.6% of total spending. Additionally, the General Services Administration represents 40.9% of the firm’s revenue, as reported by USASpending.gov, indicating that CTC’s operations involve task- or delivery order-based contracts utilized by various government agencies.
As CTC prepares for Sheehan’s departure, the selection of a new leader will be crucial for the organization’s ongoing success and strategic initiatives. The firm aims to continue its mission of advancing scientific research while adapting to the evolving landscape of technology and innovation.
