UPDATE: The Dalton Danger, a local developmental football team, is gearing up for its highly anticipated ninth season in 2026, aiming for their 100th victory after an impressive 99-15 overall record. Team owner John Caudill expressed excitement about the upcoming season, emphasizing the team’s commitment to fun, domination, and winning.
The Dalton Danger will kick off their season with two preseason games before March 1, with the regular season beginning in the second week of March. The team plays at Lakeshore Park in Dalton, Georgia, collaborating closely with local parks and recreation authorities.
Stepping into the role of head coach for the 2026 season is Willie Parker, who brings extensive experience from the Huntsville Rockets, a notable minor league team in Alabama. This will be Parker’s first head coaching role, and he is expected to lead a roster of 45 to 55 players, including athletes from various backgrounds, some with NFL experience.
Caudill highlighted the unique nature of the Danger, which has maintained a winning record throughout its history. “We’ve made the playoffs every year that we’ve been a program,” he stated, referring to the team’s consistent success since its inception. The Danger has won multiple league championships, including back-to-back titles from 2017 to 2019 and a national championship in 2018.
The team’s remarkable journey has not been without challenges. After suspending activities for one and a half years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they resumed play in 2022 and continued to impress. Most recently, the Danger ended their 2025 season with an undefeated record, narrowly losing the league championship game on May 24 to the Union County Hornets, finishing just seconds short of victory.
As the Danger prepares for the new season, Caudill remains optimistic. “We’re hoping to put another championship ring on their finger,” he said, acknowledging the potential retirements of key players while focusing on the excitement surrounding the upcoming games.
With a roster featuring local talent alongside players from cities like Nashville, Atlanta, and Birmingham, the Dalton Danger aims to provide opportunities for aspiring athletes. Caudill noted that while they prioritize recruiting local players, only about 10% of the squad comes from the Dalton area, reflecting the team’s broad appeal and reputation.
Fans can expect an exhilarating season ahead, as Caudill anticipates that the first preseason game will provide a shot at reaching that coveted 100th win. “Every year that we’ve played, we’ve been at least to the semifinals, and few teams can say that,” he remarked, highlighting the team’s exceptional track record.
