David Anthony Gilles, aged 66, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, including his wife, Nancy, and their four children. His death marks the loss of a dedicated family man and community member, whose life spanned significant personal and professional achievements.
Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, David was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School before pursuing education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy Erd, and together they settled in Richland, Washington, where they raised their four children: Darlene (Jose) Bejar, Wendy, David (Juliana), and Heather.
David began his career at the Hanford Nuclear Site as a bus driver. Over the years, he advanced through various management roles, ultimately retiring as the Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. His commitment to excellence and hard work earned him respect among his colleagues and peers.
In 2023, David and Nancy relocated to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy the home they built together. Throughout his life, David was known as a tireless provider and caregiver for his family. His reserved demeanor often masked a sharp wit and a clever sense of humor. Friends and family remarked that if he was teasing you, it was a sign of his affection.
David was preceded in death by his parents but is survived by his wife, Nancy, their children, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his brother, William (Roni). His legacy of love and dedication will continue through his family.
