Patricia Meehan Williams, a beloved member of the Chatham community, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Her death marks the end of a life filled with dedication to family, community, and her passion for horses. Patricia’s passing is deeply felt by those who knew her, as she was a cherished figure in the lives of many.
Born on April 5, 1935, Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Charles Williams, and her fiancé, Terence Toomey. Furthermore, she lost several children: Charles Ray Williams, Bonnie Sperl, David Williams, Nancy Klimek, and Gary Williams. Despite these losses, she remained a pillar of strength for her surviving family members.
Patricia was actively involved in local organizations, including 4H, where she shared her love of horses with younger generations. Her commitment to community service defined much of her life. She retired from her position at the Chatham Central School District, where she positively impacted countless students. Throughout her life, she was a devoted parishioner at St. James Catholic Church, where she attended services regularly.
She is survived by her sister, Bridget Arnold, her son, Shawn Williams, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Notable among her descendants are Theresa Davis Gerber, Frank Davis, Dakota and Audrey Williams, as well as Scott Rivenburg, Ken, Joe, and Christopher Sperl, and Kevin, Adam, and Jesse Williams. Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, which will be remembered fondly by family and friends alike.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Chatham. Following the service, Patricia will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Kinderhook, New York.
