Henrietta (Terri) M. Weeks, aged 84, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Her final moments were spent at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minnesota. A funeral service will take place on March 5, 2026, at 14:00 at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church, led by Pastor Wendell Davelaar. Burial will follow at the Hollandale Cemetery, with visitation scheduled for one hour prior, starting at 13:00.
Terri was born on January 27, 1942, in Platte, South Dakota, to Reinder and Louise (DeBoer) Boverhuis. At the age of two, her family relocated to Hollandale, Minnesota, where she became a lifelong member of the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church, being baptized and confirmed in her faith. Terri attended Hollandale Christian School, laying the foundation for her strong community ties.
In 1965, Terri married Lyle T. Weeks in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple welcomed their daughter, Kim Renae, in 1967. Following their divorce, Terri and Kim moved to Rock Valley, Iowa, and later to Pella, Iowa, where they sought specialized schooling for Kim’s needs. During this time, Terri worked as a house parent at local schools, dedicating herself to nurturing children.
Later, the pair settled in Austin, Minnesota, where Terri managed an apartment complex for several years. Ultimately, they returned to Hollandale to be closer to family. Throughout her life, Terri found joy in gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. She was also known for her competitive spirit in card games.
A committed supporter of prison ministries, Terri maintained her role as a penpal for many years, providing encouragement and guidance through study materials. Her dedication extended beyond correspondence; she was a devoted prayer warrior for those in distress, demonstrating her deep compassion for others.
Terri cherished her church family and felt supported by their prayers, visits, and acts of kindness throughout her illness. She was particularly devoted to her daughter, Kim, advocating fiercely for her care and educational needs. Kim received the best possible support thanks to Terri’s unwavering commitment as a mother.
Terri is survived by her daughter, Kim Renae Weeks; her sisters, Grace (Dean) Bos and Marlene Passow; her brother, Harold Boverhuis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She also leaves behind close friends Mark and Deanna, who were like family to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reinder and Louise Boverhuis; her sister Jennie Eekhoff; and brothers Bernard, Howard, and Ralph Boverhuis, among others.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at St. John’s Lutheran Home for their exceptional care during Terri’s final days and for the support extended to Kim. They also thank the hospice team for their compassionate assistance over the years. Special thanks go to Deanna and her daughters for their invaluable visits and support, as well as to neighbors Crystal and Bernie Drenth for their kindness.
In honor of Terri’s legacy, the family requests that any memorial contributions be directed to the Hollandale Christian School. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
