BREAKING: Clintondale Community Schools has just announced the appointment of two key administrators, signaling a significant shift in the district’s leadership. The unanimous decision was made during a school board meeting on January 12, 2023, and comes in the wake of critical changes within the district.
Shauna Hemler will step into the role of chief academic officer, following the retirement of Heather Halpin in December. Hemler, a dedicated educator with over 20 years of experience within the district, previously served as the principal of McGlinnen Elementary School. Superintendent Kenneth Janczarek praised her appointment, stating, “Dr. Hemler is an exceptional instructional leader who understands our students, our staff, and our community.” This new role is effective immediately, although Hemler will continue as principal until a successor is appointed.
Hemler holds a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Oakland University, a master’s degree in education from Saginaw Valley State University, and a doctorate in executive leadership from the University of Charleston. Her extensive background positions her well to drive academic excellence within the district.
In addition to Hemler, Kevin Taratuta has been appointed as the chief financial officer. Taratuta brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as chief financial and operations officer for Birmingham Public Schools. His background includes serving as director of finance and business services for Clawson Public Schools and as an audit manager with Plante Moran, PLLC.
“Mr. Taratuta brings a wealth of experience in school finance,” Janczarek noted, highlighting Taratuta’s deep understanding of the financial components critical for supporting the district’s business operations. Taratuta holds a Master of Accountancy from Oakland University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has earned the Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.
These appointments come at a crucial time for Clintondale Community Schools, and the administration is optimistic about the positive impact Hemler and Taratuta will have on the district’s future. As the new leaders take their positions, the community anticipates a renewed focus on academic achievement and fiscal responsibility.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: With these changes now in effect, the district will be closely watched for updates on their strategic initiatives and leadership dynamics. Community members and educators alike are eager to see how the new administration will address ongoing challenges and enhance educational outcomes in Clintondale.
