Huawei has officially launched the Mate XTs, its second-generation trifold smartphone, which is now available for order in China. This new model includes several enhancements, most notably stylus support, new color options, and a slightly reduced price compared to its predecessor.
The Mate XTs features a similar design to the original Mate XT, boasting a 10.2-inch display that folds down to 7.9 inches and 6.4 inches. The introduction of stylus compatibility is a significant addition, offering users a new way to interact with the device. Furthermore, the phone is powered by a more advanced Kirin 9020 chipset and includes an upgraded 40-megapixel ultrawide camera, enhancing the photography experience.
In terms of aesthetics, the Mate XTs will be available in several colors. Alongside the returning red and black models, consumers can now choose from new white and purple options, all featuring a premium imitation leather finish. The starting price for the Mate XTs is 17,999 Chinese yuan (approximately $2,520), which represents a price drop from the previous model, the Mate XT, which was priced at 19,999 yuan ($2,800).
The original Mate XT was priced at €3,499 (around $4,070) when launched outside of China, making the new model’s price point appear more attractive, although it still remains a significant investment. In reviewing the Mate XT, the functionality and design impressed many users, even as the high cost was a noted concern.
This launch positions Huawei ahead of its competitors, as no other manufacturer has yet released a trifold phone, although Samsung’s version is anticipated soon. In addition to the Mate XTs, Huawei unveiled several other products, including the MatePad Mini tablet, Freebuds 7i earbuds, and a new range of MateTV devices.
As Huawei continues to innovate in the smartphone market, the Mate XTs exemplifies the company’s commitment to enhancing user experience through improved technology and design, while also responding to market demand for more affordable premium devices.
