Musk’s return to the political arena is marked by a series of fierce criticisms and the potential formation of a new political party.
Musk’s recent absence from political commentary was filled with business-focused updates on X (formerly Twitter), promoting Tesla, his AI chatbot Grok, and Neuralink. However, this period of calm has abruptly ended. In the past 72 hours, Musk has launched vehement attacks against President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which he argues dangerously increases the national debt by pandering to Big Oil interests.
Challenging the Status Quo
The bill in question, which includes significant tax cuts, has been a point of contention for Musk. As the former head of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, Musk has consistently advocated for reduced government spending. His recent posts express a deep frustration with lawmakers who, despite campaigning on fiscal responsibility, have supported what he describes as the largest debt increase in history.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” Musk declared.
In a dramatic escalation, Musk has promised political retribution, threatening to target these lawmakers in upcoming primaries. He further announced his intention to create a new political party, the “America Party,” should the bill pass, arguing that the current system fails to represent a significant portion of Americans.

In response to former Libertarian congressman Justin Amash’s call for support for Massie, Musk simply replied, “I will,” indicating his commitment to backing candidates who align with his fiscal conservatism.
