As the Suburban One League regular season approaches its conclusion, three teams have positioned themselves for potential division titles. Central Bucks East leads the Colonial Division, Upper Dublin tops the Liberty Division, and William Tennent is at the forefront of the Freedom Division. With less than two weeks remaining in the season, each team has crucial games ahead.
Colonial Division Leadership
Central Bucks East boasts a strong record of 7-0 in the SOL Colonial Division and 16-2 overall. The Patriots are currently two games ahead of North Penn, which stands at 10-6 with a 5-2 division record, and three games ahead of Central Bucks West at 9-8 and 4-3.
Upcoming matchups for CB East include a visit to Souderton on Wednesday, followed by a home game against West on Friday, and a road game at North Penn next Tuesday. In their earlier encounters, the Patriots secured victories against Souderton (64-44), CB West (65-37), and North Penn (59-47). A single win in their remaining three games will guarantee at least a share of the league title, while two wins will clinch it outright. Currently, Central Bucks East ranks second in the District 1-6A standings, where the top 24 teams qualify for the postseason.
Upper Dublin and the Liberty Division
Upper Dublin is equally impressive, holding a record of 7-0 in the SOL Liberty Division and 16-1 overall. The Cardinals are riding a ten-game winning streak and lead Plymouth Whitemarsh, which has a record of 13-5 and 6-1 in the division.
The Cardinals’ remaining schedule includes road games against Quakertown, a home game against Hatboro-Horsham, and a critical matchup at Plymouth Whitemarsh to conclude the regular season. Earlier this season, Upper Dublin triumphed over Quakertown (79-20), Hatboro-Horsham (63-11), and Plymouth Whitemarsh (58-19). Winning two of their final games will secure at least a share of the league title, while victories including the Plymouth Whitemarsh game will grant them the title outright. Upper Dublin is currently ranked first in the District 1-6A standings.
William Tennent’s Pursuit in the Freedom Division
William Tennent stands at 5-1 in the SOL Freedom Division and 13-5 overall. The Panthers are ahead of Springfield Township, which has the same overall record but stands at 3-2 in the division, while Lower Moreland and Cheltenham both sit at 3-3 with records of 10-8 and 8-8 respectively.
In their final league games, William Tennent will visit Springfield Township on Wednesday and host Lower Moreland on Friday. Earlier in the season, they defeated Springfield Township (63-45) and Lower Moreland (41-36). A victory over Springfield Township would secure the league championship for the Panthers. Currently, William Tennent is placed 16th in the District 1-6A rankings, with Cheltenham at 21st. In the Class-5A standings, Lower Moreland ranks 7th, while Springfield Township leads Class-4A at 1st.
As the regular season winds down, the excitement around these teams and their pursuit of division titles continues to build, showcasing the competitive spirit of the Suburban One League.
