Newcastle United Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of Everton Clash

Newcastle United is grappling with significant injury challenges as the team heads into a pivotal match against Everton on December 2, 2025. Head coach Eddie Howe confirmed that experienced defender Kieran Trippier will be sidelined for up to four weeks due to a hamstring strain. Trippier’s absence comes at a crucial time, as he has stepped in for the injured Tino Livramento in recent games.

The injury woes do not stop there. Dutch defender Sven Botman is also a doubt for the upcoming fixture after sustaining a back injury. With both Trippier and Botman out, Newcastle faces a depleted defensive lineup for their trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

While the defensive situation looks bleak, there is a glimmer of hope for Newcastle fans. Yoane Wissa, the club’s £55 million summer signing, has returned to training with the squad. Although Wissa is not expected to make his debut against Everton, he could be in contention for the critical match against arch-rivals Sunderland in mid-December.

Newcastle’s upcoming clash with Everton marks the team’s first visit to the newly established Hill Dickinson Stadium. Everton, managed by David Moyes, has shown strong form at home this season, securing three victories and two draws in their initial six home matches in the Premier League.

As Newcastle prepares for the match, the team will need to adjust its strategy significantly. The absence of Trippier and Botman, key figures in the dressing room and on the field, adds pressure to the squad. Moreover, Newcastle will have to navigate Everton’s lineup without Idrissa Gana Gueye, who has been suspended after receiving a straight red card in the previous match against Manchester United.

As the situation unfolds, Newcastle fans are hopeful that Wissa’s recovery will bolster the squad. His anticipated return could be a turning point, especially with the Wear-Tyne derby against Sunderland on the horizon. This match, the first league encounter between the two clubs since 2016, promises to be a highly competitive event, with Newcastle having emerged victorious in their last FA Cup meeting.

With just days to go before their encounter with Everton, Newcastle United is left to navigate the complexities of injuries and suspensions while aiming for a crucial victory in the Premier League. The team’s depth and resilience will be tested as they strive to maintain their position in the league standings.
