Jack Eichel, the standout center for the Vegas Golden Knights, is among 44 elite players invited to the U.S. Men’s Olympic Orientation Camp taking place in Plymouth, Michigan. This event, scheduled for September 12-13, 2023, brings together top talents from the National Hockey League (NHL) as they gear up for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
The camp serves as a preliminary gathering, with no structured on-ice activities planned. Importantly, Eichel does not face the pressure of proving himself; he is one of six players guaranteed a spot on the Olympic roster. USA Hockey previously announced that the 27-year-old will proudly represent his country in the upcoming games.
Joining Eichel in securing their places are notable forwards Austin Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators, and Matthew Tkachuk from the Florida Panthers, along with defensemen Charlie McAvoy of the Boston Bruins and Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks. The finalized 25-man roster is expected to be revealed in early January.
Eichel is coming off an impressive season, having achieved career highs with 66 assists and a total of 94 points. Over his NHL career, he has recorded 608 points in 616 regular-season games and has made a notable impact in the playoffs, contributing 43 points in 40 playoff games. Notably, he played a crucial role in leading the Golden Knights to victory in the 2023 Stanley Cup, accumulating 26 points during the playoff run.
Eichel is not the only player from the region expected to represent the U.S. Connor Hellebuyck, the star goaltender for the Winnipeg Jets, is also anticipated to secure his place on the Olympic team. Hellebuyck comes off a stellar season where he earned both the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s Most Valuable Player and the Vezina Trophy for being the league’s top goaltender.

On the golf front, three local players are set to compete in a qualifier for the Massachusetts Senior Amateur at Quail Ridge Country Club.
