Former UFC fighter Ben Askren has successfully returned home after a challenging second hospitalization. This follows a life-threatening battle with pneumonia, which led to a coma and a critical double lung transplant in June 2023. After a recent checkup, doctors identified an infection, prompting Askren’s readmission to the hospital.
During his recovery, the 41-year-old has made significant strides, including relearning to walk after months of being confined to a bed or wheelchair. Askren has been proactive in sharing his journey with followers on social media, offering an inspiring glimpse into his rehabilitation process.

Additionally, Jake Paul, who faced Askren in a boxing match in April 2021, expressed his desire to assist Askren during this difficult time.
Reflecting on the support, Askren commented, “Man, I got only positive messages. Like Jorge Masvidal and Jake Paul both messaged me. I was like, ‘Where the hell’s that come from?’ The support was insanely broad across the board.”
Askren’s resilience and the collective encouragement from the fight community have resonated with many, illustrating the power of solidarity in times of adversity. His journey continues to serve as a source of inspiration, demonstrating that determination can lead to remarkable recoveries.
