Debra Jean Rozas, affectionately known as Debbie, passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born on July 25, 1959, in Laguna Beach, California, to Don and Nancy Gavel. Her life was characterized by deep family ties, love, and community involvement.
A Life Built on Love and Family
Debbie graduated from San Clemente High School in 1977 and went on to create a life filled with joy and companionship. She met her husband, Dave Rozas, on a blind date on February 21, 1986. Their immediate connection led to a whirlwind romance, culminating in their marriage on November 16, 1986. Together, they built a life that was the envy of many.
The couple welcomed two sons into the world: David, born in December 1989, and Dillon, born in November 1993. Debbie dedicated her life to her family, finding immense joy in her role as a mother. She actively participated in her sons’ numerous activities, spending weekends at the ballfields, where her enthusiasm and support were evident.
A Community Pillar and Loving Grandmother
Debbie was more than just a devoted mother; she was a cornerstone of her community. Her involvement extended to organizations such as Rolling Hills Little League, Mira Catalina, and Peninsula High School, where she made lasting connections and left a positive impact on many.
As a grandmother, Debbie cherished her grandchildren, Laney, David, and Blake, embracing the title of “Nana D” with pride. Her family was her greatest achievement, and her legacy will be carried on through them.
In remembering Debbie, those who knew her often reflect on her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. She had a unique ability to bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging and community.
Debbie’s memorial service will be held on March 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Green Hills Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the entire community.
As the community comes together to celebrate Debbie’s life, her spirit will undoubtedly continue to inspire those she touched throughout her years.
