In the ongoing legal proceedings, Wendy Osefo has filed a request to separate her trial from her husband’s, also seeking to have all charges dismissed. He previously represented Linda Tripp, who was involved in a significant legal battle over the recording of conversations with Monica Lewinsky, a key figure in the scandal surrounding former President Bill Clinton. In that case, all charges against Tripp were dropped in 2000. Murtha also defended a Baltimore police officer, William Porter, who faced manslaughter charges related to the death of Freddie Gray, who died in police custody in 2015.
