Weatherly American Legion Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony and Prize Event

The Weatherly American Legion Post 360 and its Auxiliary Unit 360 are set to honor Veterans Day on November 11 with a series of events aimed at celebrating and supporting local veterans. The day will kick off with a program at the Weatherly Area School District at 09:00, followed by a solemn ceremony at the memorial monument located in front of Schwab High School on East Main and Spring Streets at 11:00.

Following the ceremony, attendees can participate in the “Extravaganza of Prizes” drawing scheduled for noon at the Legion Post Home. This event promises a wide array of prizes, including various gift cards, cash rewards, and themed baskets, all generously donated by local businesses and members of the American Legion family.

Tickets for the drawing are priced at $5 and are available from members of the Weatherly American Legion family, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting veterans programs.

For further details, individuals can reach out to several members of the organization. Judy Desrosiers, a member of Unit 360, can be contacted at 570-657-5254. Alternatively, Georgia Farrow, also from Unit 360, is available at 570-427-4527. Ray Desrosiers, Jr., the vice commander of Post 360, can be reached at 570-436-3509, while Paul Bray, another member of Post 360, is available at 570-401-1654. Any member of the American Legion family in Weatherly can also provide information.

The drawing is open to the public, and winners do not need to be present to claim their prizes. All winners will be notified, so it is essential for ticket holders to keep their stubs for prize collection.

This event exemplifies the community’s commitment to honoring and supporting those who have served in the military. The Weatherly American Legion Post 360 and Auxiliary Unit 360 invite everyone to join in this important celebration and contribute to a worthy cause.
