Team USA has announced its flag bearers for the opening ceremony of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, scheduled for February 6, 2026. Speed skater Erin Jackson and bobsledder Frank Del Duca will carry the flag as the Games officially commence. Both athletes previously represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics, with Jackson securing a gold medal in the 500 meters in speed skating.
The selection of Jackson and Del Duca as flag bearers was made through a vote by their fellow athletes on Team USA. Expressing her pride, Jackson stated, “Being chosen to represent the United States on the world stage is a tremendous honor. It’s a moment that reflects far more than one individual — it represents my family, my teammates, my hometown, and everyone across the country who believes in the power of sport.”
Historic Honors for Team USA Athletes
Jackson will make history as the eighth U.S. speed skater to serve as flag bearer, while Del Duca becomes the sixth bobsledder to receive this distinguished honor. Sarah Hirshland, CEO of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, praised the selections, stating, “Erin and Frank embody the values of excellence and unity that define our Olympic Team, and we’re proud to have them lead Team USA onto the world stage.”
The opening ceremony is set to take place at the Milano San Siro Olympic Stadium, starting at 20:00 local time. Viewers in the United States can catch the live coverage on NBC and Peacock, beginning at 14:00 ET. Primetime coverage will commence at 20:00 ET/PT on NBC and Peacock.
As the world turns its attention to Milan-Cortina, the announcement of Jackson and Del Duca as flag bearers highlights the spirit of unity and achievement that the Olympics represent. With their impressive credentials and dedication to their sports, these athletes are poised to inspire the next generation of competitors on the international stage.
