NoHo Market LA, founded by mother and daughter duo Lily Barragan and Samantha Ronceros, has emerged as a vibrant platform for local artists and small businesses in North Hollywood. The market aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment where community members can showcase their art and products, fostering a sense of connection and support within the local creative economy.
The market features an eclectic mix of offerings, including clothing, vintage fashion, art, photography, handmade items, and specialty goods. Held in the NoHo Plaza, the market operates on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, with events scheduled every second Sunday from noon to 17:00 and every fourth Sunday from 17:00 to 22:00.
Creating Community Connections
Lily Barragan expressed the motivation behind establishing the market, stating, “We recognized the small number of community markets in the San Fernando Valley and wanted to make our own space. A place where the vendor community could come together, show up, and support each other in many different ways.”
The inaugural event took place in January 2025, initially organized as a monthly gathering. As the market gained traction, Barragan and Ronceros connected with numerous talented vendors, which led to a steady expansion of the market’s offerings. By January 2026, the event transitioned to a twice-monthly schedule, reflecting the growing interest and community involvement.
Samantha Ronceros noted, “After meeting all these wonderful new vendors and learning what works as a curated mix, we are now twice a month with a beautiful growing community and a lot of ideas for the future.” This evolution demonstrates the market’s success in not only attracting vendors but also engaging the community in a meaningful way.
A Space for Creativity and Expression
The NoHo Market has become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, showcasing a diverse array of products that reflect the creativity of the area. Vendors offer everything from vintage records to handmade crafts, creating an atmosphere that celebrates artistic expression and local entrepreneurship.
The market’s strategic location next to 5223 Lankershim Blvd in the NoHo Arts District enhances its appeal, drawing in foot traffic from the vibrant local community and beyond. The organizers emphasize the importance of creating an accessible space, where everyone is welcomed to explore and support local talent.
As the NoHo Market LA continues to evolve, its impact on the local economy and community spirit is evident. It stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and creativity, providing a crucial platform for artists and small businesses to thrive. The future looks promising for the market, with ongoing plans for expansion and new initiatives aimed at enriching the local arts scene.
