Greeley Central’s Claudia Koesler Honored as Top Counselor

Claudia Koesler, a dedicated counselor at Greeley Central High School, has received the prestigious title of Colorado High School Counselor of the Year from the Colorado School Counselor Association. This recognition was announced on the morning of March 4, 2024, during a surprise event where Koesler was honored by Anna Gisetti, the chair of the board of directors for the association.

The Colorado School Counselor Association serves as the state division of the American School Counselor Association and represents over 1,600 counselors throughout Colorado. Winners of the state award are also considered for the national ASCA School Counselor of the Year Award, further highlighting the significance of Koesler’s achievement.

Koesler, who is also an alumnus of Greeley Central, has been a part of the Greeley-Evans School District 6 for the past nine years. In a statement released by the district, Koesler expressed her deep commitment to her role, stating, “I feel like I was born to do this, to help inspire our kids in Greeley.”

Her nomination for the award included praise from colleagues who recognized her as a passionate advocate for the counseling profession. They highlighted her tireless efforts to elevate the role of counseling and ensure that every student receives the support necessary for success.

District 6 Superintendent Deirdre Pilch congratulated Koesler, stating, “We are so proud of Claudia and the work she does every day to ensure students reach their goals, graduate on time and have the support they need to be successful.” Pilch emphasized the crucial role that all counselors play in the wellbeing and achievement of students within the district.

This honor not only reflects Koesler’s dedication but also the importance of the counseling profession in supporting students’ educational journeys. The recognition serves as a reminder of the significant impact that dedicated educators can have on their communities.
