Ford continues to capitalize on the resurgence of the Bronco with the introduction of a special edition model for 2025 that pays homage to racing innovator Bill Stroppe. This new iteration features a striking color scheme inspired by Stroppe’s legacy in motorsports, showcasing a vibrant combination of orange-red, white, and dark metallic blue. The design not only reflects Stroppe’s impact on the Bronco’s history but also emphasizes Ford’s commitment to honoring its storied past.
In an interview, noted Bronco historian and author Todd Zuercher highlighted Stroppe’s significant contributions to desert racing shortly after the Bronco’s debut in the 1966 model year. “He got involved immediately with Ford, and the victories started very quickly with him and his team,” Zuercher stated, pointing to Stroppe’s role in pivotal events such as the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. His work with the Bronco was reminiscent of Carroll Shelby‘s influence on Ford’s performance vehicles, albeit with a more understated approach.
Reviving a Historic Legacy
This special edition of the Bronco is not the first tribute to Stroppe. From 1971 to 1975, customers could order a Baja Bronco, which would be modified at Stroppe and Associates in Long Beach, California. Today, those rare Baja Broncos command prices exceeding six figures in the collector market. “In the past eight or ten years, they’ve really gone into the stratosphere in terms of pricing,” Zuercher noted.
The 2025 Stroppe Edition combines heritage aesthetics with modern functionality, making it suitable for both rugged terrains and urban driving. The starting price for this model is $77,530, which reflects its premium features and capabilities. Despite its off-road prowess, the Bronco remains comfortable for everyday use, ensuring that drivers do not compromise on convenience for adventure.
Standing Out in a Crowded Market
Ford’s strategy aligns with industry trends where manufacturers showcase their historical connections to appeal to consumers. For instance, when Toyota reintroduced the Land Cruiser last year, it named the base model “1958,” incorporating design elements reminiscent of the original vehicle. Similarly, Jeep frequently taps into its heritage, as seen with the limited edition 2025 Wrangler Willys ’41, which honors the iconic Jeeps of World War II.
As the SUV market becomes increasingly saturated, the tri-colored Stroppe Edition Bronco stands out with its unique design and historical significance.
