Joseph C. Yedlock, a devoted member of his community and a veteran of the Korean War, passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 94. He died peacefully at his home in Ashley, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. His contributions to both his family and community have left a lasting impact that will be remembered by many.
Born on December 21, 1931, in Hanover Township, Pennsylvania, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Zugarek) Yedlock. A distinguished athlete, he graduated from Hanover Township High School in 1950, excelling in both baseball and football. Following high school, Joseph served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954, achieving the rank of First Sergeant during his service in the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Medal for his commitment to his country.
After returning from military service, Joseph found employment with Dana Perfume as an export shipper, where he worked until his retirement. His dedication extended beyond his professional life, as he actively participated in various community organizations. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Church in Ashley, where he contributed to numerous church functions and activities. Joseph was also a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12089 and served with the American Legion Post #673.
Joseph’s family was a central part of his life. He was married to his beloved wife, Constance (Morris) Yedlock, for 52 years until her passing. He is survived by his son, Joseph A. Yedlock and his wife Robin, and daughters Deborah Glidden and Lynn Cole. He also leaves behind four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren, all of whom cherish his memory.
Fishing was one of Joseph’s favorite pastimes, particularly at Jim’s place with friends. He also enjoyed playing on various championship fast-pitch softball teams during his younger years. A loyal sports fan, he passionately supported teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Penn State, Notre Dame, and the UConn Women’s Basketball team.
In recognition of his life and service, funeral services will be held on February 20, 2026. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, located at 105 North Main Street, Ashley, Pennsylvania. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Leo the Great Parish at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Vincent Dang. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Friends and family may visit the funeral home on February 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on February 20, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Leo the Great Food Pantry.
The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Allied Services Hospice for their compassionate care during Joseph’s final days. His legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire those who knew him.
