CVS Pharmacy has successfully completed its acquisition of select assets from Rite Aid, a move announced on Wednesday that includes several locations in Maryland. The deal encompasses the operation of 63 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs stores located in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Additionally, CVS has acquired prescription files from 626 pharmacies across 15 states, expanding its reach in the pharmacy sector.
In Maryland, CVS has taken over prescription files from nine former Rite Aid stores, specifically located at:
– 1400 Sulphur Spring Road, Baltimore
– 1208 Parsons Road, Salisbury
– 702 Edgewood Road, Edgewood
– 4380 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore
– 1003 Pulaski Highway, Havre De Grace
– 1520 Rock Spring Road, Forest Hill
– 9300 Lakeside Boulevard, Owings Mills
– 8634 Liberty Road, Randallstown
– 8601 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City
To ensure a seamless transition for patients and maintain service continuity, CVS has hired over 3,500 employees from Rite Aid and Bartell Drugs who chose to join the company. CVS representatives have indicated that this integration includes significant investments in staffing, enhancing training programs, and bolstering recruitment efforts at existing locations.
This acquisition follows a ruling by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey in May, which authorized the sale of specific Rite Aid assets to CVS. Company officials expressed confidence that the acquisition will strengthen their operational capabilities and improve patient care across the newly acquired locations.
As CVS Pharmacy integrates these assets, the company aims to enhance its service offerings and reinforce its commitment to customer care, positioning itself as a leader in the pharmacy sector.
