Edward Eugene Hosey Jr., affectionately known as Ned, passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2025, at the age of 78. His family confirmed that ongoing health issues contributed to his sudden demise. Ned leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, survived by his three sons, Edward E. Hosey III (wife Denise), Richard Jeffrey Hosey, and David Gilroy Hosey (wife Kat), along with his grandchildren, Evelyn, Hannah, Connor, and Gil Hosey.
Ned was born and raised in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. He graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in 1965, where he exhibited a passion for sports, particularly baseball and basketball. His athleticism carried him through various teams, including those at St. Vincent’s. Following high school, he attended Misericordia University, eventually becoming an accomplished tradesman.
Throughout his career, Ned demonstrated exceptional skill in his field. He worked extensively with FEMA, where he held positions such as a commercial contractor, FEMA Inspector, and Gas Field Electrical Inspector. His colleagues remember him for his strong leadership and calm demeanor during emergencies, which significantly impacted countless disaster relief efforts.
Family and Community Tributes
Ned was more than a professional; he was a deeply caring family man and friend. He cherished the time spent with his partner of over 30 years, Carol Sorber, and his family, which includes his sister, Patricia Kosloski, an uncle, Andrew Jack Barry, and nieces Colleen Roundhill and Leigh Thering. He also enjoyed the company of his grandnephews, River and Owen Thering.
Known for his love of the outdoors, Ned was an avid hunter and skilled cook, particularly fond of making chili and spaghetti sauce. His community involvement extended to Our Lady of Victory Church, where he served as an usher. An enthusiastic supporter of Penn State and the New York Yankees, he frequently attended games and closely followed his grandsons’ sporting events, finding immense joy in their achievements.
Ned’s family has requested privacy during this difficult time as they navigate their grief. They plan to hold a celebration of life at a later date, with details to be shared as they become available.
