Brooks Nader Discusses Weight Loss Drugs and Personal Struggles

Brooks Nader, the prominent model featured in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, has been candid about her experiences with weight loss drugs, particularly Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, she revealed that she lost a significant amount of weight and discussed the emotional and physical side effects that accompanied her journey.

In August 2025, Nader expressed her frustration with societal pressures regarding weight loss at social events. “I’m sick of being at cocktail parties or fashion events where someone knew six months prior had lost a random 80 pounds,” she stated. She emphasized the need for honesty, saying, “I had a weight loss, and why lie? So I was like, ‘I’m on Ozempic!’”

Nader’s openness about her use of these medications has resonated with many fans. During her reality show, Love Thy Nader, she received numerous messages from viewers who shared their own struggles with GLP-1 drugs. “I was shocked by how many people reached out to me, saying, ‘I’m also addicted to GLP-1. I’m ashamed to talk about it because there’s such a stigma around it,’” she shared with Bustle in November 2025. Nader admitted, “I’m still on it. It’s a crutch for me, too. It’s not healthy.”

The model discussed her motivations for using these medications, especially in the competitive world of modeling. “If I didn’t get a job, I would say to them, ‘Can we get feedback from the client?’” Nader recalled. She learned that losing weight was often a requirement for booking jobs. “I lost 30 pounds, and I booked all the jobs,” she noted, acknowledging the realities of the industry.

Nader also revealed her initial experience with Ozempic while preparing for her appearance on the reality show Dancing With the Stars in 2024. “I took, like, a little bit when it first came out, and everyone was doing it,” she explained, admitting the medication made her feel nauseous but acknowledging, “I liked it.” Ultimately, she decided to discontinue its use during her time on the show.

Support from Family and Concerns Over Health

Concern for Nader’s well-being prompted her sisters—Grace Ann Nader, Mary Holland Nader, and Sarah Jane Nader—to stage an intervention while filming the first season of Love Thy Nader. After securing a cover shoot with Maxim Magazine, Nader increased her dosage of GLP-1. This decision led to severe side effects, including nausea and fatigue, which alarmed her family.

“I know my sisters are coming from a place of love,” Nader reflected during a confessional. She acknowledged her complicated relationship with weight and food, attributing it to the pressures of the modeling industry. “I don’t think that I have an eating disorder,” she clarified, expressing a desire to maintain a balanced perspective on her health and body image.

Brooks Nader’s journey reveals the complexities surrounding weight loss and the impact of societal expectations. By sharing her story, she hopes to foster a more open dialogue about the use of weight loss drugs and the challenges many individuals face in the pursuit of beauty and acceptance. As discussions around these topics continue, Nader’s experiences serve as a reminder of the importance of honesty and support in navigating personal struggles.
