Beloved Educator Carole L. Rish Passes Away at 86

Carole L. Rish, an esteemed educator and cherished mother, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at the age of 86. She spent her final days under the care of the Allied Services Hospice Center after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Her life and career had a profound impact on many within her community.

Born on August 23, 1939, Carole was the daughter of the late Anna (Brindle) Ziegler and Pastor Phillip Ziegler. Raised in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, she showed early promise in physical fitness and the arts. Carole attended East Stroudsburg University, where she earned her degree in teaching while also excelling as a gymnast on the university’s traveling gymnastics team.

Her passion for gymnastics and dance drove her to become a physical education teacher. Carole dedicated her career to educating children, primarily at the Greater Nanticoke Area School District, where she inspired countless students. Known for her engaging teaching methods, she introduced her students to line dancing and square dancing, often accompanied by an eclectic selection of music, with Neil Diamond among her favorites.

Carole’s influence extended beyond the classroom. She also coached gymnastics and cheerleading, helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence. One of her former students, now a nurse, expressed gratitude for her positive influence on her life even on Carole’s final day.

Carole’s legacy is marked by her warmth and adventurous spirit. Prior to her diagnosis, she was known for her active lifestyle and sense of humor. During her college years, she spent many summers working in Ocean City, NJ, where she created lasting memories. Her joyful personality endeared her to those around her, making her a beloved figure in her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and her son, David W. Moyer, among other family members. Carole is survived by her daughters, Lisa Moyer and Kimberly Czapracki, as well as her brothers, Jack Ziegler and David Ziegler, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Nanticoke Christian Fellowship church. Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Dinelli Family Funeral Home, located at 170 East Broad St., Nanticoke. A memorial service will follow, officiated by Pastor David Pegarella.

The family plans to announce a celebration of life gathering with a meal at a later date, inviting all who wish to honor Carole’s memory. Those wishing to leave messages of condolence or expressions of sympathy can visit the funeral home’s website at www.dinellifuneralhome.com. Carole L. Rish will be remembered fondly for her love of teaching and her profound impact on the lives of her students and family.
