Thailand’s CEA Unveils Second Content Project Market for Creators

Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency (CEA) is set to launch the second edition of its Content Project Market, aiming to enhance the country’s status as a global creative hub. Scheduled for September 10-12, 2023, at Bangkok’s True Digital Park, this event will connect Thai filmmakers, screenwriters, and animators directly with over 70 production houses, content investors, distributors, and streaming platforms from both Thailand and abroad.

The Content Project Market will offer various opportunities, including project pitching sessions, B2B business matching, and networking receptions. Industry forums led by experts will also be open to content professionals and the general public, fostering a greater understanding of the media landscape.

Chakrit Pichyangkul, executive director of CEA, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “CEA views the Content Project Market as more than just an event — it is a step toward building a comprehensive and sustainable ecosystem for Thai content creators.” He highlighted the importance of connecting local talent with funding and commercial platforms, which can facilitate the production of projects and elevate the quality of Thai content on the global stage.

The initiative aligns with Thailand’s broader strategy to leverage soft power, positioning the country as a burgeoning creative center in Southeast Asia. Pichyangkul pointed out the economic advantages of promoting Thai content, noting, “Thai films and series have the power to attract international tourists and drive demand for Thai products and services featured in global content.”

A total of 54 creative teams will showcase their projects at the market. Among these, 34 teams are participants of CEA’s Content Lab 2025 project, developed under three specialized programs. These include Mid-Career: Project for established creators focusing on international markets, Mid-Career: Story for screenwriters crafting commercially viable scripts, and Mid-Career: Animation for creators preparing Thai animations for production. The remaining 20 professional content teams were selected through an open call process.

Operating under the supervision of the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, CEA’s mission encompasses driving balanced and sustainable growth within the country’s creative economy. The agency is dedicated to nurturing creative industries while encouraging the integration of creativity and innovation into production practices, thereby enhancing the value of goods, services, and cultural capital.

As the Content Project Market approaches, expectations are high for a dynamic exchange of ideas and collaboration among creators and investors, potentially paving the way for significant advancements in Thailand’s creative landscape.
