Gina Carano Settles Disney Lawsuit After Mandalorian Firing

Gina Carano has reached a settlement with The Walt Disney Company, concluding her lawsuit stemming from her firing from the critically acclaimed series, *The Mandalorian*. This legal resolution was formally filed on August 7, 2025, marking a significant shift in Carano’s relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm.

The joint filing indicated that both Carano and Disney agreed to dismiss all claims and defenses related to the lawsuit, pending judicial approval. In a formal statement, The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm expressed their satisfaction with the resolution, stating, “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.” The companies further noted their eagerness to explore future collaborative opportunities with Carano.

Carano’s legal battle began in 2024, when she filed a lawsuit claiming wrongful termination and political discrimination following her removal from *The Mandalorian*. The controversy erupted after she posted a comparison on social media that likened being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust. Her lawsuit sought reinstatement and damages of at least $75,000.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, played a notable role in Carano’s legal proceedings by covering her legal fees. Musk pledged support for individuals facing consequences for their posts on X (formerly Twitter) in 2023, which included backing Carano.

Upon the settlement announcement, Carano took to X to express her thoughts. In her statement, she remarked, “I have come to an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved. I hope this brings some healing to the force.” She also extended her gratitude to Musk, her legal team, and her supporters, noting her readiness to move forward in her career in the arts.

The resolution of this lawsuit not only signals a new chapter for Carano but also represents a reconciliation of sorts between the actress and Disney, a company that has faced various challenges and criticisms in recent years regarding its handling of employee conduct and public statements.

With this chapter closed, industry observers will be keen to see how this settlement influences future projects for Carano and her potential return to the entertainment world.
