Former Vice President Dick Cheney Dies at 84 from Health Complications

Former United States Vice President Dick Cheney has passed away at the age of 84. He died on November 3, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia as well as cardiac and vascular disease. His family confirmed the news in a statement, sharing their sorrow over the loss of a significant figure in American politics.

In their announcement, the Cheney family stated, “Richard B. Cheney, the 46th Vice President of the United States, died last night. He was 84 years old.” They noted that his beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne Cheney, along with their daughters, Liz and Mary Cheney, were by his side during his final moments.

Dick Cheney served under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009 and was a prominent advocate for the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. Before his tenure as Vice President, he held various influential roles, including White House Chief of Staff, Congressman for Wyoming, and Secretary of Defense. His career was marked by significant involvement in national security and foreign policy.

The family’s statement further expressed their deep appreciation for his contributions to the nation. “For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation,” they said. “He was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honor, love, kindness, and fly fishing.”

Cheney’s legacy will likely be debated for years to come, particularly regarding his role in the Iraq War and his influence on U.S. foreign policy. Regardless of differing opinions on his actions, many will remember him as a dedicated public servant who shaped the course of American history.

The passing of Dick Cheney has drawn condolences from political figures and citizens alike, reflecting the impact he had on American politics over several decades. As the nation reflects on his life, thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this challenging time.
