Berlin’s 2026 Film Festival has announced an exciting lineup, featuring notable additions such as Charli XCX’s highly anticipated film, The Moment. Following its debut at Sundance, this film will be showcased in the festival’s Panorama competition section, which highlights innovative cinematic works. Alongside Charli XCX, the festival will also premiere Sunny Dancer, directed by George Jaques and starring Bella Ramsey and Neil Patrick Harris.
The Moment is directed by Aidan Zamiri, who co-wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes. The film explores the life of a rising pop star grappling with the pressures of fame while preparing for her first arena tour. Charli XCX not only stars in the film but also brings her unique perspective to the narrative, which is based on an original idea by the artist herself.
In addition to these titles, the festival’s Panorama section will feature a diverse array of films from around the world, including works by acclaimed directors such as Hong Sangsoo and Joaquín del Paso. The festival runs from February 12 to 22, 2026, and aims to showcase groundbreaking films that resonate with contemporary audiences.
Among the newly added films in the Panorama section is Sunny Dancer, which tells the story of Ivy, a 17-year-old girl battling cancer. After her parents enroll her in what she dubs “chemo camp,” Ivy unexpectedly finds camaraderie among a group of misfits, leading to a summer of unforgettable experiences.
The festival also highlights a variety of international films that tackle pressing social issues and provide unique cultural insights. For instance, Allegro Pastell by Anna Roller features a long-distance relationship between a novelist and a web designer who confronts their future together. Árru, directed by Elle Sofe Sara, tells the story of a Sámi reindeer herder fighting against a mining project that threatens her ancestral lands.
As the Berlin Film Festival continues to evolve, the newly announced titles reflect a commitment to showcasing a mix of emerging talent and established filmmakers. With its Panorama, Generations, and Classics lineups, the festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of global cinema.
The festival’s full lineup also includes thought-provoking documentaries such as Safe Exit by Mohammed Hammad, which follows a young security guard navigating trauma, and The Day She Returns by Hong Sangsoo, exploring the complexities of memory and identity through an artist’s lens.
As anticipation builds for the Berlin Film Festival, film enthusiasts worldwide can look forward to an engaging program that highlights the power of storytelling in cinema.
