Aesha Scott, a familiar face on Below Deck Mediterranean, anticipates an engaging and refreshing season 10, which premieres on September 29, 2023. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Scott expressed her excitement for the new episodes, highlighting a departure from the dramatic themes that have characterized previous seasons.
“There is so much that happens. The viewers this whole entire season are going to be absolutely enthralled,” Scott stated. She noted that while last season featured familiar storylines like love triangles, this season is filled with unexpected twists. “I was like, ‘What just happened? And now that happened,’” she remarked, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the upcoming episodes.
Shift Towards Relatable Storylines
Scott, who joined the franchise in season 4, remarked that the upcoming season focuses on more relatable and genuine stories rather than drama for drama’s sake. “It’s not toxic or gross stuff. It’s people’s real lives and family stories and just really interesting and often relatable stuff,” she explained. This change is a significant shift from previous seasons, where the focus often leaned towards sensationalism.
Having transitioned from being a second stew to a chief stew, Scott is now more settled in her role. “For a long time, you’re just waiting to hear from season to season. It definitely feels like I’m more of a set stew now, which is great,” she said. Her partnership with Captain Sandy Yawn has been instrumental in creating a comfortable work environment. “People love our relationship, and I’m so excited for people to just see that continue to grow,” Scott added.
Captain Sandy’s Confidence
Captain Sandy Yawn also conveyed her optimism for the season. She expressed feeling more settled this time around, stating, “I think maybe the interior feels more settled this season.” Yawn appreciates Scott’s presence on board, indicating that it alleviates her concerns about the interior crew. “Having Aesha on board just says everything is fine on the interior for me,” she noted.
The captain praised Scott’s character, describing her as “the most kind individual I’ve ever met.” Yawn’s trust in Scott’s decisions enhances the team dynamic and contributes positively to the overall atmosphere aboard the yacht.
The upcoming season also features returning crew members, including bosun Nathan Gallager and deckhand Max Salvador. They will be joined by a new chef, Josh Bingham, and stews Kizzi Kitchener and Victoria SanJuan, along with deckhands Christian Trimino and Tessa Budd.
