Huawei Unveils Ambitious Chip Roadmap; Evolve Raises $1M for AI Training

Huawei has unveiled its comprehensive roadmap for chip development, focusing on the introduction of its Ascend AI chips, Kunpeng server chips, and high-speed Atlas supernodes. This initiative is part of China’s ongoing efforts to enhance self-sufficiency in semiconductor technology and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, particularly Nvidia. The announcement emphasizes a timeline that includes the launch of the Ascend 950 chip in 2026, Atlas 950 supernodes capable of supporting 8,192 chips, and updates to the Kunpeng lineup by 2028.

The strategic move comes amid increasing tensions in the tech landscape, particularly in light of U.S. export controls that have affected the semiconductor market. Huawei’s plans underline a renewed confidence in China’s domestic chip manufacturing capabilities.

Funding Boost for AI Corporate Training

In a significant development for the corporate training sector, Evolve has successfully raised $1 million in seed funding, led by AltaIR Capital with participation from 500 Global and other investors. Founded in 2023, Evolve aims to revolutionize AI-driven corporate education, streamlining onboarding processes and enhancing employee upskilling.

The platform promises to reduce training durations from weeks to hours, while offering real-time performance tracking and SCORM compliance. Evolve plans to automate up to 80% of human resources and learning workflows, broadening its reach in the U.S. and European markets.

Record Salaries in India’s High-Frequency Trading Sector

Meanwhile, the high-frequency trading sector in India is experiencing a surge in demand for talent, with entry-level salaries reaching record highs of ₹12.5 lakh per month. Firms such as IMC Trading, Quadeye, and Citadel Securities are aggressively hiring despite tighter regulations from the SEBI and a notable 40% decline in derivatives trading volumes.

The demand for quantitative researchers and trading engineers remains robust, driven by the increasing prevalence of algorithm-driven trading, which now constitutes around 70% of market activity. This trend has intensified competition and shortened the lifespan of trading strategies.

Concerns Over Generative AI’s Impact on Mental Health

Generative AI models, such as Gemini Flash 2.5, are reshaping the aesthetics of social media, leading to hyper-polished trends that may adversely affect the mental health of users, particularly among Generation Z. Experts warn that these AI-generated visuals can contribute to heightened anxiety, lower self-esteem, and disturbances in sleep patterns.

To address these challenges, experts recommend enhancing digital literacy education, implementing transparent AI labeling, and fostering mindful usage of technology. With a balanced approach to innovation and empathy, AI has the potential to support mental wellness through tools for early detection and therapy applications.

Canada Seizes Major Crypto Assets

In a landmark case, Canadian authorities have seized approximately C$56 million (around US$40 million) from the unregistered cryptocurrency exchange TradeOgre, marking the largest crypto seizure in the country’s history. The RCMP, acting on a tip from Europol, accused TradeOgre of facilitating money laundering by circumventing Know Your Customer (KYC) and FINTRAC compliance regulations.

Authorities plan to analyze data from the platform and are expected to file charges. This case aligns with broader efforts between Canada and the U.S. to combat cryptocurrency-related crime, which has resulted in the freezing of over $300 million in illicit assets across both nations.

These developments highlight significant shifts in the technology and finance sectors, showcasing a blend of innovation and regulatory responses that will shape the future landscape.
