H-E-B, the Texas-based grocery chain, has made a significant move by acquiring nearly 20 acres of land in Sherman, located about 70 miles north of Dallas. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that this latest purchase encompasses 19.8 acres near the northwest quadrant of the intersection of FM 1417 and U.S. 75 in Grayson County.
While no construction date for a new store has been established, Mabrie Jackson, an H-E-B spokesperson, expressed optimism about future developments. “We look forward to serving more Texans in the coming years,” Jackson stated.
This acquisition follows H-E-B’s announcement earlier in the month regarding the purchase of 22.8 acres at the northeast corner of U.S. 377 and Cross Timbers Road in Flower Mound. The company plans to commence construction on a new store at the Walsh Ranch development in West Fort Worth this fall. As in Sherman, no specific timeline for the Flower Mound store has been disclosed.
Founded in Kerrville and now based in San Antonio, H-E-B recently celebrated its 120th anniversary. The grocery chain operates over 455 stores across Texas and Mexico, making it a significant player in the regional retail market.
As H-E-B continues to expand its footprint in North Texas, the company aims to enhance access to its services and products for more customers in the region. The recent land acquisitions reflect the chain’s strategic growth plans and commitment to meeting the needs of local communities.
