Conservatives Demand Urgent Probe into $170K Spent on ISIS Women

BREAKING: The Conservative Party is pushing for an immediate investigation into the federal government’s spending of at least $170,000 to repatriate Canadian women who joined the ISIS terrorist group in Syria. This urgent call comes as concerns mount over taxpayer money allocated for their return.

In a letter signed by Conservative MPs, the party has formally requested that the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security convene without delay. Recent reports from Global News revealed that the government incurred substantial expenses while facilitating the return of eight women and their children from Syria to Canada between 2022 and 2023.

Key expenditure details surfaced under the Access to Information Act, indicating that the Canadian government not only covered the women’s return flights but also their accommodations at the Montreal Airport Marriott. Among the reported costs were lavish items such as $24 sandwiches, $95 worth of wine, and snacks including chocolate bars and Timbits.

The Conservative Party argues that spending such significant funds on individuals linked to a notorious terrorist organization raises serious questions about government priorities. “Taxpayers deserve transparency,” said a Conservative MP. “We need to know why this money was spent and what impact it has on our national security.”

This developing story has sparked a heated debate across the political spectrum, with many Canadians expressing outrage at the use of public funds for this purpose. The investigation could shed light on the broader implications of repatriating individuals associated with terrorism, a topic that is particularly sensitive in the current global climate.

The parliamentary committee is expected to respond quickly to the Conservative request, with a preliminary meeting scheduled for later this week. As the situation unfolds, Canadians are urged to stay informed on this critical issue that could influence future government policies on national security and immigration.
