URGENT UPDATE: A murder suspect has been apprehended in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, just one day after his vehicle was discovered abandoned in Calabasas. Alexander Lee Rogers, aged 51, was arrested on July 25, 2023, by local police following a violent incident in Longview, Washington.
Rogers is wanted for the brutal stabbing of 73-year-old Andrew Peters and his sister-in-law, 64-year-old Dawn Peters. Tragically, Dawn succumbed to her injuries, while Andrew remains hospitalized. The attack took place last Tuesday around noon at the Peters family home, where authorities believe the violence was unprovoked.
Family friend Jill Nunes expressed the deep emotional impact of the tragedy, stating, “This is like unimaginable heartbreak. Every family member is devastated, everyone is grieving in a different way, so please, everybody, just pray for them.”
Capt. Brandon McNew of the Longview Police Department described the incident as “horrific,” noting that Rogers had previously been acquainted with the victims through an old family connection. Reports indicate that Rogers had been performing handyman work for the family in the months leading up to the attack, following his release from a 20-year prison sentence for attempted murder.
Just hours before the stabbing, police had a non-criminal encounter with Rogers in a parking lot, where he received a verbal warning regarding vehicle licensing issues. Investigators later confirmed that he fled Washington State, driving over 1,000 miles to Southern California, where he ultimately abandoned his vehicle near a hiking trail on Calabasas Road.
Authorities discovered the car on July 24, leading to Rogers’ swift arrest the following day. As investigations continue, police are working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the violent attack.
This developing story highlights the urgent need for community awareness as police seek to prevent further incidents. Stay tuned for updates as this case unfolds.
