Missing Persons in Kerr County Drop to 3 After Texas Floods

UPDATE: The number of missing persons in Kerr County, Texas, has plummeted to just 3, a significant drop from a peak of over 160 following the catastrophic floods on July 4, 2023. Local officials confirmed this latest development on Saturday, attributing the success to “extensive follow-up work” and “extraordinary efforts” by search and rescue teams.

Officials reported that while 173 people were initially reported missing statewide, the swift response and dedicated work of rescue teams have allowed many individuals to be verified as safe. The floodwaters in some areas reached depths of two stories, leading to urgent rescue operations across affected regions.

The dramatic reduction in missing persons points to the effectiveness of community and official collaboration during one of Texas’s most challenging natural disasters. Kerrville authorities, alongside state officials, emphasized that their ongoing efforts are crucial in ensuring the safety of all residents.

“This remarkable progress is a testament to our community’s resilience and the tireless work of our first responders,” stated a local official, highlighting the emotional toll the floods have taken on families and loved ones.

As recovery efforts continue, residents and officials remain vigilant. The focus now shifts to ensuring that all affected individuals receive the necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official channels as updates on recovery efforts are expected. The situation remains fluid, and authorities are committed to providing timely information as it develops.
