Comedian Shane Gillis is set to host the event, bringing his unique blend of humor and sports enthusiasm to the stage. “I’m excited to be at The ESPYS this year,” Gillis stated upon being named host in June. His passion for sports made him an ideal choice, according to Craig Lazarus, ESPN’s vice president and executive producer of the ESPYS.
Viewers can catch the 2025 ESPYS live on ABC and stream the event on ESPN+. For those unable to watch in real time, the ceremony will also be available on Disney+ and Hulu the following day.
Notable Awards and Performances
This year’s ceremony will honor several distinguished individuals and groups. Oscar Robertson, a Hall of Famer in basketball, will receive the prestigious Arthur Ashe Award for Courage. The Jimmy V Award for Perseverance will be presented to Katie Schumacher-Cawley, head coach of the Penn State University women’s volleyball team. Additionally, first responders from the Greater Los Angeles area, along with former athletes and Erin Regan, will be recognized with the Pat Tillman Award for Service. Iconic athletes Diana Taurasi and Alex Morgan will be honored with the Icon Award during the event.
The 2025 ESPYS will also feature performances from notable artists, including Grammy-nominated rapper Busta Rhymes, the hip-hop duo Clipse, and rapper GELO. An in memoriam tribute is planned, with a special performance by Grammy-nominated artist Tobe Nwigwe, accompanied by David Michael Wyatt.
