UPDATE: The Richmond RCMP is urgently appealing for information regarding the 1985 homicide of 21-year-old Kim Stolberg, whose case remains unsolved more than 40 years later. On December 4, 1985, around 8 p.m., Stolberg was on the phone with her sister when she reported an unknown individual entering her family’s office on River Road, located between Capstan Way and Cambie Road. Tragically, she never returned to the call, and was later discovered stabbed to death.
In a compelling statement, Staff Sgt. Gene Hsieh, Major Crime Commander of the Richmond RCMP, emphasized the urgency of the appeal: “Forty years have passed, but our commitment to finding answers for Kim and her family has not diminished. We have investigative tools today that we didn’t have in 1985. Even a small detail, remembered now, could be the key to finding whoever was responsible for Kim’s death.”
To enhance public engagement, the Richmond RCMP has released a short video outlining the details of the case and the ongoing investigation. The force aims to reach both current residents and those who may have moved away but still possess vital information. Authorities urge viewers to share the video widely to help spread the word.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) at 604-204-4600 or email [email protected]. The call for assistance could mean the difference in finally bringing justice to Kim Stolberg’s family.
This renewed appeal highlights the importance of community awareness and the potential for fresh leads in long-standing cases. If you or anyone you know has even the slightest information, your input could be crucial in solving this decades-old mystery.
The Richmond RCMP continues to work tirelessly to bring closure to Kim’s family, stressing that no detail is too small. The emotional weight of this case resonates deeply, and the hope remains that someone will come forward with information that could finally bring the perpetrator to justice.
