UPDATE: A man has stolen approximately $1,700 worth of caviar from a Whole Foods in Irvine, California, and authorities are urgently seeking the public’s help to identify him. The theft took place on December 29, 2023, at around 6:30 p.m. at the Whole Foods Market located on Irvine Center Drive.
According to Irvine Police Department spokesman Kyle Oldoerp, the suspect initially appeared to be shopping normally, selecting various items before executing the theft. The stolen caviar included high-end brands such as Fishwife, featuring its Caviar Duet and Golden White Reserve varieties, priced at approximately $170, $160, and $99 per container. An employee who had recently stocked the shelves noticed the caviar was missing shortly after the theft, prompting a review of surveillance footage that confirmed the suspect’s actions.
Police took to social media to share the unusual nature of the crime, humorously stating, “This is not Jason Statham filming an action scene in a grocery store.”
