UPDATE: Ellinwood Hospital and Clinics is in the midst of a critical leadership transition as the board actively seeks a new Chief Executive Officer. With nearly 60 applications received from candidates across multiple states including Kansas and Nebraska, the hospital is moving swiftly through the interview process.
The board has narrowed the field to six candidates, who participated in first-round interviews over the past two weeks. As of last night, two candidates have been selected for follow-up interviews, scheduled for after the holidays. This urgent search underscores the hospital’s commitment to maintaining high-quality leadership.
In the interim, Summer Zink, the Chief Financial Officer, and Jill Ritchie, the Chief Nursing Officer, have been appointed as Co-Interim Chief Executive Officers. Zink will manage administrative operations while Ritchie will oversee clinical operations, ensuring that patient care and services remain uninterrupted during this pivotal period.
Board president David Gonzales expressed confidence in the interim leadership team, stating, “The board is confident in the strength of our leadership team and the operational stability of Ellinwood Hospital and Clinics.” This reassures the community that care quality will remain uncompromised as the search for the new CEO continues.
The board aims to appoint a permanent CEO by early 2026, highlighting a robust interest in the position. They are committed to transparency and open communication with the community throughout this process. Hospital officials noted that the transition is part of a strategic plan to ensure long-term stability and continued investment in local healthcare services.
Furthermore, the board recognized Kile Magner for his decade of service as CEO, as he prepares to take on a new role at Myrtue Medical Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. “We thank Kile for his dedication and leadership and wish him continued success,” Gonzales said.
As the search progresses, all eyes will be on Ellinwood Hospital and Clinics, which remains well-positioned for future growth and development.
