Jessica Lacy Set to Depart Range Media Partners After Sundance

Jessica Lacy, the leading executive in indie film sales and packaging at Range Media Partners, is anticipated to leave the company in 2024, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. Lacy has been with Range since 2022, when she joined as a partner to oversee the specialty division, Range Select. Insiders indicate that the decision for her departure is mutual, allowing her to guide her existing team through the 2026 Sundance Film Festival market as she evaluates future opportunities.

Range Media Partners has chosen not to comment on Lacy’s impending exit, and it remains uncertain when the firm will initiate the search for her successor. Lacy’s tenure at Range follows a distinguished career at ICM Partners, where she spent two decades collaborating with prominent filmmakers on projects that gained attention at major global festivals, including Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca, Berlin, and SXSW.

Notable Achievements and Career Highlights

During her time at ICM Partners, Lacy was involved in several significant deals, most notably the impressive $25 million acquisition of “CODA,” which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2022. Other prominent films she helped package include Cooper Raiff’s “Cha Cha Real Smooth”, Regina King’s “One Night in Miami”, and the 9/11 drama “Worth”, featuring Michael Keaton. Lacy also played a vital role in the success of Karyn Kusama’s acclaimed projects, including “Destroyer” and “The Invitation.”

Established in 2020, Range Media Partners was founded by a group of top agents who transitioned into management following the WGA-mandated halt in TV packaging fees. The firm’s leadership includes former eOne executive Pete Micelli and notable figures such as Dave Bugliari and Jack Whigham, who also hold ownership stakes in the venture.

Future Projects in Development

Range Media Partners is not only focused on representation but is also advancing a film production division that is developing several intriguing titles. Upcoming projects include a biopic of the legendary musician and Velvet Underground co-founder Lou Reed, inspired by the 2023 biography “Lou Reed: The King of New York” by Will Hermes. Other notable projects in the pipeline include a film exploring the iconic screen partnership of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, as well as “Soul Train,” a cinematic adaptation of the forthcoming stage musical about the influential producer Don Cornelius.

As Lacy prepares for her transition, the film industry watches closely to see how her departure will shape both her future and the ongoing evolution of Range Media Partners.
