A limited-edition Crighton CR700W superbike, renowned for its performance and exclusivity, is now available for sale at a price of £154,495 (approximately USD 200,000). This model, which boasts an impressive 220 horsepower from its dual-rotary 690cc engine, is one of only 25 units ever produced.
Unveiled in November 2021, the Crighton CR700W has garnered a reputation as an elite track machine. Developed by Brian Crighton, a prominent figure in rotary-powered motorcycle engineering, this specific bike is numbered 15 of the limited series. With a mere 125 miles (200 kilometers) on the odometer, it has seen minimal action, with its only track days occurring at Donington Park GP, where it was used for just three hours before being returned for maintenance.
The CR700W stands out not only for its rarity but also for its exceptional engineering. The motorcycle delivers an astounding 319 hp per liter, surpassing high-performance superbikes like the Ducati Panigale V4, which generates around 210–220 hp per liter. For perspective, MotoGP bikes produce approximately 300 hp per liter, while the legendary Ferrari F2004, a celebrated Formula 1 car, achieves 309 hp per liter.
Performance and Specifications
The entire engine and transmission unit of the CR700W weigh just 101 lb (46 kg), including the six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. Combined with the motorcycle’s dry weight of 285.5 lb (129.5 kg) and torque output of 105 lb.ft (152 Nm), the CR700W is engineered for exhilarating performance.
The bike features a Spondon-derived chassis, recognized for its custom triple-section extrusions and a single shock rear swing-arm made from aluminum alloy. The front suspension is equipped with Öhlins FGR 300 race forks, complemented by Brembo GP4-MS 108-mm brake calipers for superior stopping power. Furthermore, it rolls on Bridgestone race-spec tires, ensuring optimal grip on the track.
Adding to its advanced specifications, the CR700W is fitted with a titanium and inconel exhaust system that enhances engine performance by generating a high-energy vacuum, as stated by Crighton. The entire motorcycle is adorned in lightweight carbon fiber, contributing to its remarkable power-to-weight ratio.
