UPDATE: The CNY Diaper Bank is urgently calling on the community of Liverpool, NY, to help bring holiday joy to families in need. This season, the organization aims to provide essential diapers to local families facing economic hardship through community support and donations.
Residents, local groups, and businesses can contribute by making secure monetary donations online at cnydiaperbank.org/holidaymatch2025. To amplify the impact, every donation made by January 1, 2026, will be matched up to $5,000 thanks to a generous grant from the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
“Nearly half of families with young children experience diaper need,” said Michela Hugo, Founder of the CNY Diaper Bank. “When so many families are unable to afford their most basic needs, it is a glaring sign that our system must change.” This urgent call to action highlights the pressing issue of diaper need, which is driven by low wages and rising costs.
Diapers are a necessity for babies but are not covered by programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or Women, Infants, and Children benefits. With an adequate supply for a single child costing around $100 per month, many families struggle to afford this essential item. “Community members can make a positive impact for families this holiday season by donating to help us provide diapers and prevent diaper need,” Hugo added.
The CNY Diaper Bank stands as the largest diaper bank in New York State, distributing an average of 200,000 diapers to 4,000 local babies and toddlers each month. Since its inception in May 2016, the organization has provided over 11 million diapers to those in need.
This holiday season, the CNY Diaper Bank is not just about providing diapers; it’s about ensuring that no parent must choose between diapers and dinner. As the community gears up for the holidays, the call for action has never been more critical.
